While currently paying more attention to expand live show operations, keeping up the professional Social Media posts, and evolving their style into more “creative” songs, The Chainsmokers have been basking in the glory of their carefully curated labor and connections with outstanding female artists that pack a punch.
It all started once upon a time when Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall were chilling and Andrew just hit the gym while taking in the whole “Young and Free” playlist on Spotify. Andrew ended up completely let down by the list because none of the songs really stood out and were just kind of playing it safe, so this gave him pause to think about they could take advantage of this lag in the market.
In an effort to this end, Andrew and Alex Pall eventually, like most artists, drew from the inspiration of life experiences that they had accumulated. Andrew himself hails from a very small city on the outskirts of Maine: always trying to keep up with the rich girls.
Eventually, the result was the hit smash single “Closer”, which as everyone knows is about getting back together with an ex and the intricacies of such a delicate point in a relationship.
For as we have come to learn, both Alex Pall and Andrew were EDM DJ’s were electronica heads well before the scene came to be so popular. Alex was merely DJing to make some money on the side, but when he partnered up with Andrew then things started to manifest on a grandiose scale.
Alex and Andrew became such good friends that they actually achieved a level of popularity that allowed them to collaborate with seriously talented female artists like Halsey, ROZEZ, and Daya. It’s hits like “Closer”, “Don’t Let Me Down” (1.1 Billion YouTube views and counting), “Roses”, and “#Selfie” which not only show the vast range of talent and BPM’s that this pair can produce very well, but also the longevity that they so clearly own too.
‘Started from the bottom now we here,” I believe these are the lyrics that Chainsmokers should be shouting to the world right now. It might not be the lyrics to one of their songs but who cares right now, the guys have just topped the charts. The chain smokers recently topped the Billboard Dance 100.
This has been a journey for the duo. Andrew Tuggart and Alex Pall have been on a journey into the world of music that started way back. This journey was initiated by Alex Pall revelation on one of that art gallery that he attended in New York. Alex Pall’s manager made the connection with Andrew and the Chainsmoker was born.
Their journey has not been an easy one. In fact, in one of the videos, they shared with the world they speak about how they could not make it among the top 100 but are now at the top of the world! The billboard top 100 is not just that normal list but is the list of the best artist and Chainsmokers toping it is not a small thing.
A new video released by the duo show their work on the music track. The video might be only 2 seconds to make the 1-minute mark but it just oozes the skills and passion of the group. The song somebody is a masterpiece and has caught the world like a storm. Basically, the short video just gives to life the statement in everybody’s lips that the duo is the best music group in the universe.
The song was initially recorded for another song but the way they change the pitch and create a symphony that can only be compared with that of the great music guru Mozart is just pure genius. The instrument used to like the synths, albetons and the piano might fool someone to think that the pair is just a normal pair but actually, the brainwork behind the song is pure magic.
Let us sit down, relax and wait for the full video on the work they put in because watching the two at work is just as fun to watch as listening to the songs they produce.
Towards the end of the summer of 2016, the Chainsmokers, whom had already had a large amount of success in the previous year from songs such as “Don’t Let Me Down,” “Roses”, and “Selfie”; released their new song. This song: “Closer”, took some fans off guard as it featured something new and different, Alex Pall and Drew Taggart changed their style a bit, Taggard did vocals alongside featured artist, Halsey. This may have been the first song featuring this new style, but it can actually be reflective of the Chainsmokers’ idea from the beginning.
In an interview with Taggart, and Alex Pall, the duo discuss how since they met in New York several years ago; they have always wanted to do something different. The two were introduced back when they were finishing up the university, and Alex Pall describes their chemistry as perfect for making great music. The two began by DJing, with Taggart taking the main job, while Pall remained the key disc jockey. In EDM music, it is common for producers to get other artists to be featured as vocalists, the Chainsmokers did this, but were always involved in the writing of the lyrics. According to Pall, they wanted to make songs that involved what was going on in their life, and not just the person singing. From here, they began working on songs such as “Roses”; in which Taggart sang backup vocals, and helped write the song with ROZES.
This desire to make their voices heard, and not be hidden behind the instrumentals, is what Pall describes as their road to producing and making “Closer”. It was on this song that Taggart finally takes the front stage singing. As the Chainsmokers continue to make music, and sing and produce the songs, they could doctor a sound that is not only unique in the EDM industry, but it could also take them to places that many artists dream of.
